My research focuses on making complex data comprehensible to humans. I’m particularly interested in (semi-) automatic approaches to help create visualizations that help find new insights. To do so, I’m not only developing new visualizations but also trying to optimize existing techniques. I investigate the strengths and weaknesses of encodings to guide visualization experts as well as develop new algorithms that can even be used by non-experts.
